“Diet Soda” is the biggest oxymoron around! How many times have you seen an overweight person drinking “diet soda?” I know personally, I see this all the time. These poor people, who ACTUALLY think that drinking this crap is preventing them from gaining weight. Well, here’s a wake-up call…Diet soda is a huge reason you’re fat.
There is NO SUCH THING as diet soda! Period. Diet soda is filled with so many chemicals and artificial sweeteners, which your body does not recognize. It is a foreign substance that your body doesn’t know what to do with. So what happens is our body gets confused. There is a dissociation between the sweet taste in your mouth and the zero calorie intake. This puts the regulatory system that controls hunger and body weight out of sync, thus causing you to have even a greater sweet-tooth to make up for the calories your body “thought” it was receiving from the sugary taste. A study on rodents showed that those fed saccharin actually gained weight compared to rodents fed sucrose (sugar).
An American Diabetes Association study revealed that drinking diet soda is associated with a wider waist in humans. And a second study shows that aspartame — an artificial sweetener in diet soda — actually raises blood sugar in mice prone to diabetes. RAISES BLOOD SUGAR!!! DID YOU GET THAT PART???That means it is increasing your insulin levels which is the major cause of weight gain (because at this point, your body stops using fat as a fuel source). So, your entire metabolic functioning is now screwed up! You’re putting on weight due to high insulin levels AND craving more sweets. This is a recipe for disaster!
When I cut out ALL, yes ALL artificial sweeteners, I lost 6 pounds, WITH NO OTHER CHANGE IN MY DIET! Although I don’t encourage drinking regular soda either, it’s better than the “Humble LeBrons!”
